Access

In addition to its workshops and evening classes, Verrier operates an open access policy, allowing people without access to equipment or space to make use of the studio and its equipment by appointment.


The Open Studio offers you the facilities to develop your craft skills in the context of a working studio.  This includes leaded glass, painted and stained glass, copper foil, mosaics, and other flat glass processes.  
  The facilities provided are workbench space (on boards), soldering irons, grinder, circle cutters, cutting squares, measures, straight edges, lead vices
  At least one class in leading, copper foiling, kiln forming, or bead making as relevant is required, but may be from any studio or educational establishment.

The Open Kiln offers you facilities to develop your interest in kiln forming beyond classes and workshops. 
  Four kilns are available - three electric and one gas fired kilns. The electric kilns range from 400 mm square through 500 mm square to 2200 mm by 1030 mm. The gas fired kiln which is suitable for fusing, slumping and paint firing is 400 mm by 600 mm. The costs vary according to the size of kiln and type of firing being done. The electricity or gas used is charged in addition to the kiln usage charge. 

  A variety of cold working tools and machinery is available.
  At least one class in kiln formed glass from a studio or educational establishment is a prerequisite. 


The Open Torch offers you facilities to develop your skills in torch working beyond the basics of classes and workshops.
   The studio provides various types of torch:  the Hot Head, the Volcano and a propane-oxygen torch.
   Firing fees and gas charges apply. 

   At least one class in bead making is a prerequisite whether from a studio or educational institution.

Note:
Materials and tools are available for purchase, although people are free to bring their own where ever purchased.

Studio hire - £7.00 per hour or £35.00 per day (6 hours or more, limited to 8).

Open Access Policy:
  • Access is by appointment, often in the evening and at weekends to fit with the studio requirements.
  • Individuals are expected to be largely self-sufficient after an initial orientation.
  • People are expected to have their own hand tools, although the more expensive items are available in the studio for use.
  • Machinery, kiln use and refractory materials are attract a charge.
  • Staff will be available to offer advice in the case of difficulties, but assistance beyond a quarter of an hour will be charged at an hourly rate.
  • Any materials left more than two weeks will attract a storage charge, and that left beyond a month without arrangements will be disposed of.
